Erick Robinson is a partner responsible for the firm’s patent practice.
Erick is a qualified US patent attorney with over 20 years of experience in cross-border patent litigation, portfolio management, prosecution, monetization, anti-trust and related matters.
Prior to joining SIPS, Erick was responsible for patent matters at leading IP firms based in Beijing.
In addition to his work in private practice, Erick previously served as Director of Patents in Asia for Qualcomm, where he managed a broad range of IP issues for the company, including antitrust and portfolio management. As part of this work, he managed open source issues for Qualcomm Atheros, and created, implemented, and enforced open-source protocols.
Before Qualcomm, Erick managed patent and open source matters for Red Hat.
Early in his career, Erick spent several years in private practice with leading US IP firms, including Weil Gotshal and McKool Smith.
Erick has a technical background in computer science and physics, as well as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and oil & gas.
Erick has been selected as one of the Leading 300 IP strategists worldwide by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) for the past four years. He is frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, IAM, Intellectual Property Magazine, and other publications on Chinese patent and antitrust issues. He is also the publisher of the award-winning China Patent Blog.
